Arthroscopy is a surgical procedure in which the camera and required instruments are inserted through small (5 mm) incisions in the front of the knee. This is both diagnostic and terapetic procedure.

Various conditions in the knee can be treated arthroscopically. Most common indication is meniscal lesions. Menisci can be partially resected or in younger patients and if the tear pattern allows us they can even be sutured. Cartilage lesions can be debrided. If the lesion affects whole cartilage touching the underlying bone, the microfracture technique can be applied. This technique includes drilling small holes in the bone to stimulate fibrocartilage growth. Patients are discharged few hours after the surgery.

Rehabilitation depends on the lesion found and procedure performed.
